Chapter 5. Self & other in the contemporary world

 

 

In the contemporary moment, where things, people, and information flow throughout the world, trans-regional and trans-cultural contact has become normal. Sometimes people’s identity, that is, their sense of belonging to a particular region or culture falters, sometimes; by contrast, it is strengthened. In the last chapter, we have collected works that question the way identity might work in this kind of contemporary world.
