Vietnamese museums share collections with colleagues in Asia
Vietnamese museums share collections with colleagues in Asia

One of the ripple effects of the economic policy of ‘renovation’ known as Doi Moi that was introduced in Vietnam in the mid 80s’, has been the opening up of the cultural sector. Changes in the laws governing the temporary export of museum artefacts have led to a number of exhibitions on Vietnamese culture and history, hosted by museums overseas in recent years. Vietnamese museums are actively sharing objects from their collections with their colleagues. They cooperated for instance with the National Museum of Korea in Seoul in organizing the exhibition “Vietnam, Life and Culture”, from February 2008 to the end of 2009. An exhibition on bronze objects from Vietnam was organized in the Museum of the Chuang People’s Autonomous Region of the Province Guanxi, China in 2007. And in 2008 the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore inaugurated “Viet Nam! From Myth To Modernity” to celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Vietnam .
