Spirit cult

 

 

 

 

These wooden figures, called "walut", represent a class of tutelary spirits. They were erected at the boundary of fields and gardens, whereby the harvest is protected against thieves, for example. These figures (rather the tutelary spirits) receive sacrificial offerings from the people.
