Gemeentemuseum Den Haag owns a large collection of modern art and other collections covering disciplines such as fashion, music and arts & crafts. The art collection holds the largest number of Mondriaans in the world. Drawings, musical instruments and clothing are on display throughout the museum. The museum owns an important collection of Asian Art. Gemeentemuseum Den Haag first opened its doors in 1935. The building in which the museum is situated was designed by the famous Dutch architect Hendrikus Petrus Berlage; it was his last major project before his death in 1934.
