Hengso Museum of Keimyung University opened in May of 1978 on one of its campuses at Daemyeong-dong, Daegu. Since then, it has established itself as a culture space presenting the history and culture of Daegu city and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province region via excavation survey of various remains, special exhibitions, and museum education. Especially by conducting excavation survey of the ancient tomb complex of Gaya in Goryeong and Seongju region and by surveying various remains dating from the Neolithic Period to the Three Kingdoms Period in Gimcheon, Gyeongju, etc., the museum is fulfilling an important role of systematizing the ancient history of this region and restoring its culture. A new building for the Hengso Museum was opened on Seongseo campus in 2004 as the university celebrated its 50th anniversary, and now it is being born again as an archaeological and art historical museum where archaeological relics secured via excavation survey are harmonized with art history relics including porcelain, folk painting, etc.
