Why this is a
Masterpiece

The outstanding costume of silken kaftan and vest, and the exquisitely produced head dress were obtained from a noble lady of Khalkh, of the Jasaktu Khanate.

History of the Object
The costume and headdress were worn by a woman of high rank. Originally inspired by court fashions in the 17th century, the costume became the typical female dress of the Khalkh Mongols and is today Mongolia’s national dress.
