Why this is a
Masterpiece

Archaeologists rarely managed to find undisturbed burials in “the royal burial mounds”, but even plundered barrows were an invaluable source of scientific information. Undisturbed Taksay-1 barrow let the archaeologists, with the greatest possible fullness, restore clothing and headdress of buried woman. As part of the objects found from the burial, there were items both local and imported production (Achaemenid Iran). Many of them are real works of art that convey a high level of artistic culture of the ancient population.

History of the Object
A research was conducted in Terektinsky area in Taksay-1 complex under the guidance of Professor M. Sdykov, also the doctor of Historical Sciences in the archaeological detachment of the West Kazakhstan regional center in April 2012. The research found burials of a noble Sarmatian woman, which preserved ritual vessels, gold jewellery and decorative items. The wooden crest depicting a battle scene between the Sarmatian and Persian is one of the unique finds of Taksay-1 Complex.
