Why this is a
Masterpiece

This exhibit is very ancient, and refers to a number of elite anthropomorphic sculptures came down from the Bronze Age, and is a universal model of art. The find dates back to the end of 3000 B.C. to the beginning of 2000 B.C.

History of the Object
Stone anthropomorphic sculpture, named later as “Tobolsk thinker” for the unusual position of figure of a naked man looking up, was found in 1976 on the right bank of the river Tobol near Kostanay city in the area of Michurino village. A machine operator V.M. Eliseyev found the sculpture and handed the trove to a local historical museum of Kostanay region. Later, Gennady BorisovichZdanovich, a well-known archaeologist estimated that “It is one of the earliest works of art, which has come down to us from ancient times.” The sculpture is made of grayish-brown coarse-grained stone, by definition of a senior geologist of “Sevkazgeologiya” association Yu.I.Rylov - sandstone. The height of the exhibit is 20.2 cm, weight - 4 kg, well preserved. The find refers to a range of seated anthropomorphic (depicting human) sculptures of Asian steppe from the end of III - beginning of II millennium BC.
