Why this is a
Masterpiece

Badges with an image of a crane were atributted to theofficials who, having passed multi-stage exams, achieved the highest rank. A badge with an image of this particular bird from the collection of the National Museum in Krakow, contains all the classic elements. A crane which stands on a rock emerging from the depths of lishui waters is facing the red disc of the Sun. Around him arenumerous auspicious symbols, stylized clouds, bats and Taoist symbols in pairs - a fan with a sword, a basket of flowers with a flute, castanets with a bamboo stalk and gourd with a lotus flower. Buddhist emblems emerge from among the waves. There are also flowers and lingzhi mushrooms. The composition is framedin a decorative border with the motive of connected swastikas. The extremely valuable background of the badge deserves a particular attention as its green surface, with a metallic shine, was woven using peacock feathers.
