Why this is a
Masterpiece

A very thin layer of silver is cut and inlaid on the box in decorative patterns to give the same effect as mother of pearl. The different decorations, especially the deer under the pine tree, are realistically rendered.

History of the Object
This iron tobacco box is an example of the splendid metal craftsmanship of the Joseon Dynasty.
