Why this is a
Masterpiece

Chosen and explained by Yuki KONAGAYA "No Finishing Touch". The original is housed in the Zanabazar Memorial Art Museum in Mongolia. Minpaku houses this replica, which was donated by the Hayashibara Foundation. When Mr. Orkhon copied the picture, he left out something in order to give the painting his own finishing touch. In the center of the picture, one of the naked children is defecating, but no excreta is painted in the replica. Did you notice?

History of the Object
This is one of the four pictures exhibited in “The Great Mongol” special exhibition, which was held in the summer of 1998 and well received. The series of four pictures was hung in the center of the ground floor of the special exhibition hall.
