This map indicates fortifications, ramparts, terrains, adjacent islands and lands in detail.

History of the Object
Ganghwa-do has been a strategically important point since the Three Kingdom Period. It was called Hyeolgu or Gapbigocha around 400 when it belonged to Goguryeo, and it was renamed Haegu-gun or Hyeolgu-jin after it was absorbed into Silla. It was the combat grounds against Yüan during the Goryeo Dynasty, and a ferocious battlefield of Foreign Disturbances of 1866 and 1871 at the latter Joseon Dynasty.
