Why this is a
Masterpiece

It is a commonly used household implement, which is most representative of the daily life of the Korean people.

History of the Object
It is woven with fine threads of straw and has a lid to store grain. The advantage of the straw jar is that it protects the grain from moisture and keeps it fresh because the straw allows air to circulate. For this reason, Korean farm houses owned a number of household goods made of straw. This piece consists of a lid and a body; there is a handle in the middle of the lid and the body consists of a double layering of straw. The jar has a low neck and a wide shoulder which becomes narrower toward the base.
