Why this is a
Masterpiece

Of the three Balinese winged lions showing Chinese influence given by Chevalier de Grez this one is the smallest and the most elegantly carved.

History of the Object
The object was a gift by Chevalier de Grez from 's-Hertogenbosch to King Ludwig II of Bavaria in 1876. King Ludwig gave it to the Royal Ethnographical collection in the same year. This collection later became the State Museum of Ethnology Munich.
