Painted in underglaze blue, turqoise, green and purple, the tile introduces, with its floral and arabesque pattern, an outstanding example that represents a turning point in architectural decoration in Ottoman Turkey. The tile is fragmentary but the central flower is nicely preserved and it documents the so-called “style of four flowers” - the tulip, the carnation, the rose and the hyacinth, that emerged between 1560 and 1650.
