Ding Yanyong is known for his Chinese painting. He immigrated to Hong Kong in 1949. His oil paintings are rare, and are characterized by exaggerated shapes, bright coloring and bold representation under the influence of Henri Matisse and the Fauvist movement. This work demonstrates the artist's proficiency in western media and also in the use of Chinese ink technique.
