Why this is a
Masterpiece

Regarded as a potent symbol of royal power, as many elephants as possible were acquired in the hunt and kept at the palace. Elephant manuals illustrate and describe the characteristics of elephants, both mythical and real.

History of the Object
Elephants played an important role in Thai society, not only as beasts of labour and battle mounts, but also because of their associations with the birth of the Buddha.
