Why this is a
Masterpiece

It is a unique example of a linga. We have found only small ones, but nothing of this size. It also bears a pattern on the surface that we have never seen before.

History of the Object
Many objects like this linga were collected before the building of the Nam Ngum Dam and were taken to That Luang. Construction of the dam would cause the temples to be destroyed by the rising water in the reservoir. The linga comes from Ban Sapheu, Tulakom District, Vientiane Province.
