Why this is a
Masterpiece

Chosen and explained by Mitsuhiro SHINMEN "Pious People Who Pray to Icons". People’s high reverence for the icon illustrates the cordial faith of Romanians. The impression I felt when I saw pious people praying to icons in small villages and cities has not changed since my first visit to Romania.

History of the Object
This artifact is one of over 100 glass icon pieces which were collected in 1995. It is called an icon, but the material is glass, and the motif is a simple figure, so it differs from orthodox icons painted on boards. It started off as a pilgrimage souvenir, but it was treated with due respect after it was brought back home.
