This red under-glazed crock with pine bamboo and plum blossom decoration is one of the best Masterpieces of the Ming Dynasty. It was chosen to take part in the “exhibition of Chinese historic relics”. It is one of the historic relics treasures.

History of the Object

The object has a beautiful shape and an elegant design. Over the ages, pine, bamboo and plum are called “three cold-weather friends”. Pine means fortitude and immortality; bamboo means modesty and "green for all seasons". One of the most famous poets Su Dongpo said” we could feast without meat but we can’t live without bamboo”. Plum gives off a fragrant odor and is very beautiful in the cold winter, so it is called “the first flower in the cold winter”. It is on top of all other flowers. Red under-glazed porcelain was created in the Yuan Dynasty. Until the Ming Dynasty it was very difficult to produce.
