This sculpture is in good condition. It is a representative piece of early Daoist sculpture.

History of the Object
General Zhang Jian is one of the legendary thirty-six generals serving Northern Emperor Zhenwu in the Taoist Panthenon. He holds a mallot, his attribute, to ward off plague.
