Why this is a
Masterpiece

It is a two-handled clay vessel with a narrow neck and a flat bottom. There are eyes, mouth, nose, chin, ears, breast and adornments sculptured on the surface of the vessel. It is a special object.

History of the Object
Under ancient conceptions, a woman was the successor to the human race, symbol of life and fertility. The huge quantity of clay female figurines and stone idols are revealed on the territory of Azerbaijan. Many researchers are of the opinion that female figures, connected with primitive beliefs, were the embodiments of goddesses - the protectors of hearth and home. Therefore it is no wonder, why female depictions were kept on many vessels.
