Why this is a
Masterpiece

A man, in a reclining position in a boat, lets himself drift with the current. The painting also illustrates the creativity of Fu Baoshi. A poetic cycle, a text or a single verse, here a poem of Cheng Sui (1607 - 1692) written in the margin, inspires him to give his own pictorial interpretation.

History of the Object
Before being given to the museum, the painting was in the private collection of Guo Youshou.
