Why this is a
Masterpiece

Horse, as the most effective and fast tools for war, transportation and communication in ancient China, has always been regarded as the symbol of national dignity, power and heroism. Many artworks themed on horses have been made in Han Dynasty (202BC—220AD) because horses played a especially significant role at that time when China vigorously expanded +its territory and repel (repelled) invasions from other minority tribes. This bronze ware falls into this category. In this art piece, a strong horse is cast in bronze, by the side of which is a bronze figure with high nose, big eyes, long beard, earrings and a hook innovatively designed as his right hand which can be used to pull the horse. From the facial features and dress we can ascertain that this figure is not a Han people but a minority, which reflects ethnic fusion of Han and minority people of that time.
