Why this is a
Masterpiece

This Javanese-style figurine is the only one of its kind discovered in Singapore. The head of the rider was unfortunately never recovered. The image is similarly modelled on both sides and stands on a base. It is two-dimensional and stylized, resembling wayang kulit puppets. The rider wears a sarong around his waist, exposing his upper body and calves, and is seated upon a saddle. The rider’s neck and left arm are adorned with jewellery, and he holds a staff in his right hand. Beneath the rider’s saddle appears to be a wing.

History of the Object
Archeologically recovered in Singapore in 1998.
