From a cultural-historic point of view it is of great interest to observe how the Western religion of Islam was eventually given native inflections in terms of material (porcelain, a Chinese invention) and technique of décor (underglazed blue).

History of the Object
This porcelain box formed part of the collection of the Swedish collector of Chinese antiquities, Hans Öström. An example of an anonymous piece of art from the antiquities market.
