Why this is a
Masterpiece

The lustre technique was used in Spain and continued to be used there for a long time compared to other places. The secret was considered lost. The size of this albarello is larger than the usual size.

History of the Object
Further evidence of the consumption of Valencian pottery in Mamluk Egypt. Its influence upon local production can be charted in the assimilation of the distinctive ivy leaf motif into the varied repertory of designs practiced by the ceramic workshops of Fustat in the fifteenth century.
