Kain Panjang (“long cloth”, hip wrap) featuring proscribed parang rusak and dielamprang motifs. Ancient pattern reserved for princely class (rare cloth reserved for the Javanese aristocracy, early 20th c).

History of the Object
Batik was originally a court art confined mainly to the ladies of the aristocracy and certain patterns were reserved for the ruling classes.
