Why this is a
Masterpiece

This is a typical work of Nguyen Tu Nghiem who is a master in using vermilion and gilt on a background of traditional lacquer to create a conventional kind of light. The painting successfuly expresses an illusionary, lively space where the inhabitants of Hanoi welcomed the spring in the recently acquired time of peace.

History of the Object
The peaceful life after the victory over French colonialism has inspired artists to create new themes with diverse content and methods.
