Masterpiece

This work was made by a great master potter, Pan Yushu (1882—1938). It is a representative piece of Pan's style, using western technique to carve figures with traditional clay and glazes.

History of the Object
The Shiwan kiln in Foshan, Guangdong Province is one of the most important folk kilns in South China. Shiwan has a rich source of clay that is very plastic and well suited to the production of sculptures.
