Why this is a
Masterpiece

It is a very rare stone sculpture of the Bagan Period.

History of the Object
The sculpture presents the scene of the first sermon of the Buddha (Dhamma-Cakra). After reaching Enlightenment, the Buddha preached his doctrine to five monks in the deer forest. This was called "The First Sermon". At the front of the pedestal, two monks and two Brahmas, surrounded by two deer, were sculpted on a stone slab, indicating the Migahtarwon (deer-forest).
