Why this is a
Masterpiece

It is a good example of Middle Lao Lan San art period.

History of the Object
In the latter half ot the 19th Century Vientiane began to return to life after having been completely destroyed and little by little temples were restored. Only the Ho Phra Keo remained in rubble. Prince Suvanna Phuma restored Ho Phra Keo with the assistance of the French colonial administration and the rebuilding was completed in 1942. It was decided that it would be made into a museum. In the meantime many objects had been brought to the Louis Finot Museum in Hanoi and it was not until 1953 that the last object was returned. This piece still has the documentation number of the Hanoi museum.
