Toxasters have been found elsewhere, but this one is complete, one can see what the animal looked like. It was chosen as a masterpiece, because it is one of the oldest objects in the museum collection.

History of the Object
Fossil Toxaster, a fossil of an animal that lived in water during the Jurassic Period, 70-135 million years ago. It originates from the Cretaceous period.
