Why this is a
Masterpiece

The object reflects the mastery of Chinese artisans in handling a fragile material such as the feathers of the kingfisher and the gauze.

The hood was collected by Olga Wegener during a journey to China, on which she went together with her husband Georg Wegener, a geographer, in 1912. It was collected for the museum along with various costumes, models of houses and inventory of trade.
