It is a good example of stone carving from the 16th Century.

History of the Object
The Buddha image in the bhumiphasa mudra with a beautifully decorated back slab is in the 16th Century style. Hand gestures are known as mudras. If the right hand is down and its palm faces inward, the gesture is known as the earth-touching attitude or calling upon the earth to witness Buddha's enlightenment. This is called the bhumiphasa mudra.
