Masterpiece

Even though this painting doesn't bear an artist's signature, the brushwork is consistent with that of Xu Xi. Therefore, this painting is confidently attributed to Xu Xi.

History of the Object
Xu Xi lived in Zhongling (present-day Nanchang, Jiangxi Province). He, a descendant of a well-known family in Southern China, served his entire life as an official for the Southern Tang dynasty. With his talent at drawing, he focused on flower paintings with light colors and ink all his life.
