Why this is a
Masterpiece

The complicated process of making of a pojagi, which requires high workmanship and care, reveals traditional Korean women’s strong desire to wrap happiness.

History of the Object
This wrapping cloth, called Chogakbo, was made of scraps of cloth left over from making clothes and blankets. These scraps were crafted into a geometric pattern and with a color composition which can be compared to modern abstract art. It was widely used in the common household and rarely found its use in the royal palace. Ramie and silk were used during summer and a double layer of satin was used during winter.
