Why this is a
Masterpiece

Chosen and explained by Masao KASHINAGA "Soft Black Box". The main part of the net is dyed black with indigo and is bordered by colorful, elaborately-wrought silk. This soft black box is used to protect people, not only from mosquitoes, but also from prying eyes in houses that do not have any partitions.

History of the Object
This was collected near Vientiane in Laos. Judging from its shape, it is assumed to be a mosquito net of Tai Dam people who emigrated from Vietnam.
