This is a gyoji which shows that the king is bestowing upon Hanshik Choi the position Jeong, in the public office of the Joseon Royal Hospital. This Gyoji is regarded as an important document because the date is accurate and allows one to know the organization of the time.

History of the Object
Gyoji was a document which the king gave to a servant when bestowing upon him a public office, office and peerage, qualification, posthumous epithet, land, servant, etc. It is the most representative of royal documents. The document name, details of appointment to public office, issuing year, month, and day, etc. are specified on the Gyoji. The Royal Seal had to be stamped on it.
