Why this is a
Masterpiece

This vessel with a lobed belly is indeed rare. The magnificent and delicate designs on the belly are the most remarkable aspect of the piece in terms of casting techniques.

History of the Object
Most of the Jia vessels from the early Shang dynasty are formed with a flat base. This one is an exception.
