An exquisite drawing of a heavenly fully-blooming garden is painted both on the front and the back of the instrument’s body. This tar is regarded as one of the most beautiful string instruments dedicated to play art music.

History of the Object
Tar, a type of rabab, is a plucked string instrument that can be found in Iran and the Caucasus region. This mid-18th Century tar is from Persia. The bowl-shaped body is made from mulberry, which has a lamb-skin covering the body. Tar means string in Persian, and has spread widely to Middle Asia and the Caucasus region.
