Why this is a
Masterpiece

The girl in the painting, dressed in a colorful long robe and wearing a belt with pompons on both ends around her waist, is sitting on a round stool, combing slowly her hair in her right hand with a comb in her left hand. The criss-crossed line segments of slight tint was set as the foil in the background. At the top left corner, the painting was signed with" Yu Liang 61" and stamped with "Yu Liang Iron Line" a rectangle seal carved in relief.

History of the Object
Pan Yuliang was an award-winning Chinese painter, renowned as the first woman in the country to paint in the Western style. She had studied in Shanghai and Paris. Pan returned to Paris in 1937 to live and work there for the next 40 years.
