Why this is a
Masterpiece

Chogonka, translated as The Song of Everlasting Sorrow, is a tragic Chinese love poem written by Bo Juyi (AD 771-846). Based on a true story, it describes the Emperor Xuanzong's doomed love affair with the beautiful young concubine Yang Guifei. The scrolls were painted by the Japanese artist Kano Sansetsu, probably after the Chinese original. This scene shows the Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei in their nuptial bedchamber.
