Why this is a
Masterpiece

This pot is a fine example of the manufacture of stoneware in China under the Song Dynasty. It was fired with dark glazes such as Qian yao and Cizhou yao, and manufactured in large quantities for export to countries like Japan and Korea.

History of the Object
Since the end of the nineteenth century, this stoneware has inspired potters in Scandinavia to produce stoneware on a Chinese technical and aesthetic foundation. It is now shown in the exhibition China – in the middle of the World at Kulturen in Lund.
