It is a nicely executed water jug cast in brass and inlayed with gold and silver. It represents the best example of Islamic metal works. The whole surface decoration, creating much of the appeal of Islamic metalwork, depicts astrological imagery. Medallions in the shape of cusped arches contain the images of planets and personification of the planets with the sign of zodiac. The decoration reflects popular taste. Except the astrological images, other designs were common, e.g. benedictory inscriptions wishing prosperity, happiness and success, as well as the geometrical figures. The jug represents the technical virtuosity in both shape and design, as well as the refined aesthetics of its maker. It is very well preserved and almost intact.
