Why this is a
Masterpiece

Pan Yuliang created a classical atmosphere of Chinese style in this self-portrait. Dressed in a black embroidered cheongsam, she sits up at a table with her dark eyes reflecting the painter's melancholy.

History of the Object
Pan Yuliang created the painting in the fallen Paris right after the outbreak of World War Two. Living abroad, she missed her relatives in the motherland incessantly.
