The painting depicts clearly the lifestyle of a family in the Konboung period and is therefore of high cultural and historical value.

History of the Object
The Konboung Dynasty was the last dynasty that ruled Burma (Myanmar) from 1752 to 1885. The dynasty created the second largest empire in Burmese history, and continued the administrative reforms begun by the Taungoo Dynasty, laying the foundations of modern state of Burma. The British defeated the Burmese in three Anglo-Burmese Wars and ended the Burmese monarchy in 1885.
