Masterpiece

This jewelry box is inlaid with silver. The inlaid technique was developed in a very early ancient period in Korea and has continued to the present. This is one of the most valuable examples which shows the highly developed metal technology of the Chosun period (1392~1910). The elaborate design of animals such as a monkey is especially being loved by people at the present time..

History of the Object
The jewelry case is made of iron and used to hold precious articles. On the surface of its lid are painted a pair of cranes. On the sides, a monkey, a deer. a pair of lovebirds, and chrysanthemum are inlaid with silver strings.
