Why this is a
Masterpiece

This highly ornamental comb is made of hawks-bill skin. The handle decoration is exquisitely bordered with gold and then inlaid with green nephrite. The comb has an unusual shape, with the broad ridge forming an almost right angle with the teeth, which indicates that it may have served more of a decorative purpose. From the border between the teeth and handle hang three pendants, two on the front with eight-petaled flowers and one on the back with a ten-petaled flower. The pendants also have small leaves suspended from gold wire.

History of the Object
This ornamental comb is unique metal work from Goryeo Dynasty for the meticulous technique and exquisite beauty.
