    This is a really significant work, as it demonstrates the uniqueness of Dewa Kompiang Kandel Ruka's combination of abstraction and representation, something developed in late 1930s examples of his work. It is possible that this work or others by him were seen by Escher, and influenced the development of Escher's work.
